Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, IL., Daneshia grew up in the church where, as a child, her musical roots grew while singing Gospel. She still sings Gospel in her church today. Speaking of musical roots, her father is a Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Blues singer and pianist Randy Johnson. Daneshia also has a background in singing other genres such as R&B, Neo-Soul, House, Jazz, and Blues.
She has been with Mississippi Heat since 2022 and has recorded with the band on their last two albums: Madeleine and Don’t Look Back.
In the notes for Madeleine, Daneshia’s debut album with Mississippi Heat, Pierre writes:
